Bet thine buttocks, 'tho I wouldn't limit the trauma to that which is
trailer induced. Large, flat FRP sections are prone to "oilcanning" --
which leads directly to failure -- under the stress of sailing as
well. The curved surfaces typical of most boats are inherently
stronger, given the same thickness. The "tubes" strengthen the panels
against flexing without adding as much weight (and $) as would be
needed if the hull were merely made thicker.
