I mounted my sentry F.Ext. to the inner wood vertical rail of the companion
way. I used the existing stainless hardware that was fastening the wood to
the fiberglass bulkhead. Works great and no drilling. Its in a great
spot, accessible and out of the way.

On a TV show about boats and mod set in florida, I saw a guy put masking
tape on the surface before drilling or jigsawing. he said this was to
eliminate chipping and cracking in the gelcoat. Then after cutting his
hole for the electronics he removed the masking tape remains.
