When the original wooden rubrail on my gunter rig Potter became decrepit, I
replaced it with a substantial black vinyl rubrail with 3-strand rope in
the groove instead of the usual round vinyl insert. The black doesn't show
dirt, and the rope can be replaced if it gets too grubby. The rope looks
kind of salty, but a black, all-vinyl rubrail would be essentially
maintenance free. A white rubrail is a bad idea, IMHO.
