[WWP] Free-running block versus T-track?

Has anyone used a free-running block attached to a line run through a
turning block to control a jib/genoa sheet instead of T-track and cars for
a P-19? In this case the jib sheet is run through the free-running block.
The line attached to the free-running block can then be lengthened or
shortened to adjust the jib sheet angle when reefing. This approach seems
simpler, cheaper and has the benefit of adjustability from within the
cockpit. What are the downsides?
