Some time back a Potterer devised a rig to carry his motor on the trlr
tongue. I would appreciate pointers to the designer or other source.

Due to two new PCs being duds in the past two months I have lost almost
all my Potter files; to complicate matters I now have Powermac and am
slo-o-owly getting up on the step w/it(w/jests and some snide comments
from the Skipper who has her own operational PC).

We are getting a Yamaha 4x4(<50#) and are considering a move from the
transom while trailing. If that isn`t feasible I guess it will have to
go in the back of the van(I think the 'Skipper' can carry 50# w/o busting
a gut ={:-> I jest of course! she 'does`na do 'deck duty').

We won`t trail HA`PENNY till we come to a resolution of the problem, so
we are limited to the river or a half day motor to/from the Bay which
leaves little time for sailing. The current/tide are a bit more than we
expected.

IM sent a 22"x22" 3/16" aluminum plate to be mounted outside as a
reinforcement. We haven`t installed it as yet; with the plate/Honda 4x8/
and hvy duty mtr-mnt the total weight would be in excess of 100#
- guess I have no faith left in IM.

HA`PENNY is still for sale but if we can resolve the problem we may
reconsider; she is a fine micro cruiser.

Thanks for your help,

Why don't you check out a Johnson/Evinrude sailmaster 6HP (w/alternator) it
only weights 60lbs and has cheap parts everywhere? The outboard survey we made
a while back indicated that most P19 owners were happiest with a 5 or 6HP.

I have a Nissan 8 (same as 6) and wish I had gotten a J/E Sailmaster 6 or 8...
Parts are hard to come by (and $$$$$) for a Nissan, Tohatsu, Seagull or
Yamaha... OMC parts are available everywhere...

I ordered an alternator ($190.00)for my Nissan and after a month found the
parts were still back ordered from Japan. I called Nissan and politely asked
for help. I finally got them a week ago. Now I can't find a dealer to bolt on
part for less than $200.00.

Nissan now has a 5HP (60lb.) 4cycle I've seen advertised for $1,249.00 with
2yr warranty...

The aluminum transom plate is bolted on inside of boat transom and held with
huge silver dollar size washers over bolts on outside of my 98' Potter.

I think I saw the trailer outboard attachment on the Potter Website at the top
of this message...

When we (wife and I) remove the motor we place it on the floor and drive the
van back so the back door is next to the motor. Then we me open the door and
get it in the van with the head on a piece of foam so it's higher than the
prop... I refuse to carry that 60lb. outboard back and forth...

Have your trailer bearings checked regularly for rust and scoring. Visually
inspect and repack them often... I had right side bearings fail on my trailer
this week and damage lightly my Potter... it was scary... it's was a bitch
dealing with Florida Highway Patrol anarchists... They would not let me use
the tow company I had called... It was their contracted tower or else... Ames
Enterprises of Davie, Florida had inspected and repacked bearings back in
June... The trlr. bearings do not touch water when I launch only when I
retrieve. They have buddy bearings and I inject grease before each use. Used
only twice since Ames serviced them before failure... Had both replaced by
Kauff's and they discovered Ames had only repacked outers on left side...
Inner bearing was scored and useless. Can't trust anyone...
