I would say the P-15 has a centerboard or perhaps a drop keel (since 50 or
so pounds of steel has more of a stablilizing effect than a wooden,
aluminum or fiberglass centerboard). A daggerboard moves vertically up and
down like a dagger in and out of a sheath -- hence the name. A
centerboard or drop keel goes up and down like the blade of a folding knife.
I would not want to give up that 50 or so pounds of weight in my P-15's
steel centerboard/drop keel.
